Hostess Cover Letter

Dear Sir/Madam,

I understand you are looking for an experienced, qualified, and customer-oriented hostess for your restaurant, owing to your advertisement in The Saturday News. I would like to submit my application and resume for the position at hand.

I have over three years of experience in the service industry. For the past one and a half years, I have been working as a hostess at The Retro Bar and Restaurant. My job responsibilities include, among others, the following:

  • Answering telephonic calls in a courteous and professional manner

  • Taking reservations and managing them effectively

  • Ensuring the entry doors and the dining area are free of debris, and that they are clean and inviting

  • Preparing the seating plan in advance for private parties

  • Checking and following up with kitchen staff to ensure everything is in order

  • Ensuring that all menus are well-maintained and updated

  • Greeting guests, guiding them to their table, providing them with the menu, and answering any query they have regarding the menu

  • Ensuring the server is aware that guests are seated and ready to be served

  • Remaining aware of each server’s count to ensure that each one gets equal opportunity

  • Maintaining and organizing the desk area

  • Performing additional responsibilities as requested by the restaurant manager

I have a pleasing personality and possess excellent communication skills, both of which I believe are essential for performing the role of a hostess. I am organized, dedicated, hard working, and have the ability to work as a part of a team, as well as independently. My supervisors have commended me on my ability to stay calm under pressure and on my problem solving abilities.

My resume, which is enclosed with this application, provides further details about my core competencies and capabilities. I hope you would give me an opportunity to discuss my qualifications for this position in a personal interview.
