  • Century Correctional Intuition Internship Century, FL 08/09-12/09

    Case Management/Counselor
    This internship was at Century Prison and at Brownsville Church. I spent half of my time at each facility. I did case management for incarcerated offenders who had 3 months or less left at Century Prison. After the offender was released they would continue their case management and follow up care at Brownsville Church. This program also accepted offenders who were being released from different prison and jails all around Florida. Some of my duties included:

  • Coordinated Operation Fresh Start with Pastor Joe Mullins of Brownsville Church
  • Coordinated state recognized Re-Entry program with Sergeant Gillard at Century Prison
  • Provided case management for released and incarcerated offenders who chose to participate in either program
  • Counseled released and incarcerated offenders on victim awareness, substance abuse triggers, re-entry, Victim-Offender impact, and educated them on employability
  • Facilitated classes such as mock interviews, resume writing, and mock mediation trials.
  • Working along with The Department of Children and Families I helped released offenders who were in need of assistance obtain food stamps, Medicaid, cash assistance, VA benefits, shelter, and housing
